Student Visa
Depending on your nationality and the bilateral agreements between Türkiye and your country, there are multiple visa and entry options available for international students. Students may enter Türkiye with or without a visa, depending on their nationality and applicable agreements. These options include consular visas, e-visas, entry with a passport or national ID card, and visas obtained at the airport.
Once you know how you can enter Türkiye and which option is most suitable for you, you will be able to proceed with your application. Please check your country’s eligibility and/or apply through https://www.evisa.gov.tr/en/
If you are exempt from obtaining a tourist visa for Türkiye, you do not need to apply for a student visa at the Turkish Consulate. You may simply enter the country with a passport that is valid for the entire duration of your stay plus an additional 60 days.
Please note that the student visa is still valid; however, it must be obtained from a Turkish Consulate (and some consulates no longer issue student visas for Türkiye). Also, be aware that the student visa is single-entry only. For more information, please refer to the official website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye: http://www.mfa.gov.tr/visa-information-for-foreigners.en.mfa

Residence Permit
International students are required to register with the local authorities (Directorate General of Migration Management) within one month of their arrival in Türkiye and obtain a Residence Permit. To apply, students must book an appointment online through the official website:
Before the appointment date, students must prepare the following documents:
• Passport: Original and copies (data page, page with Türkiye entry stamp, page with visa if applicable; if you entered with an e-visa, you must also provide a copy). Please note that your passport must be valid for at least six months beyond the intended residence period.
• Valid health insurance policy
• Student Certificate: Issued by the Registrar’s Office and not older than 10 days (you must obtain a fresh copy before your appointment).
• Financial declaration: A statement confirming that you have sufficient and sustainable resources during your stay (form available at the International Office; Migration Management may later request supporting documents).
• Copy of previous residence permit (if applicable)
• Name equivalency certificate: Required if your passport lists your first name, middle name, and surname together in one field, or if abbreviations are used in your name. This document must be obtained from your embassy or consulate.
• If under 18: A parental consent letter (signed by parents), notarized sworn translation, and a document proving parenthood (birth certificate or equivalent).
• Residence permit fee receipt: Payable at tax offices in Kızılay or Ziraat Bank branches.
• Copy of your online registration (appointment documents).
During Orientation Week, you may receive assistance from the Registrar’s Office regarding your residence permit application.
